The Truth Behind the Gaza Protests Extremism and the American 20-year-old We’re in the thick of it. Encampments are popping up at a record pace at our colleges and universities. Starting with Columbia, they’re spreading like wildfire around the country. The scenes are strikingly similar. Students holding backpacks and Dunkin cups… wearing keffiyeh headscarves and raising protest signs. Many yell in outrage. Most recently, windows were smashed in a classroom building on the Columbia campus. Commencement ceremonies are being cancelled to ensure community safety. So let’s take a look at the rage – what it is, and where it stems from. On the surface, there’s a message we can all agree on. A humanitarian crisis exists in Gaza. To many, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu’s military response to a hostage siege and unprovoked massacre of Jewish innocents on Oct. 7, 2023 has been disproportionate. Thousands of civilians have lost their homes and shelter, and face daily food scarcity. Aid trickles in, but is met with gang behavior and thievery of food at gunpoint. It is tragedy layered over tragedy. But let’s go one more layer down. Here’s where the messaging gets more complicated. Along with humanitarian pleas, we have begun to see pro-Hamas flags mixed in the crowds. And stories begin to emerge of Jewish students getting verbally taunted, pushed and shoved, told that after the Oct. 7 massacre that “they’re next.”  But hold on. These young protestors are quick to say their protests aren’t about hating Jews. They point to a smattering of Jewish faculty who have joined their ranks. This is a political fight against what they see as the Israeli government oppressing the Palestinian people.   Why, then, as final exam period arrives – the traditional time for cramming for tests and mainlining caffeine – are so many Jewish students fearful? Why did the Jewish leader Rabbi Elie Buechler at Columbia University urge Jewish students to leave campus immediately and take their final exams from the safety of their homes? Why is the chant ”From the River to the Sea” – widely associated with a desire to wipe Israel and its Jewish residents off the map – regularly chanted at these protests? And why did Jewish Columbia University business professor Shai Davidai have his swipe card cancelled, barring him from entering the campus building where he teaches? Let’s not jump on the students. Because this didn’t start with them. And it won’t end with them.  When have our American college students, roughly 18-22 years old, not felt an urge to rebel against the established authority? And when has the desire to belong to something larger than themselves not been ubiquitous?  This is a “like me and subscribe to my channel” generation. Clearly the desire to be seen and heard is in play. To add: A Reuters report from April 26 tells us that Hamas are cheering these college protests. There are reasons for that. On the surface, it seems clear enough – Hamas militants see American youth lining up behind them to hate Jews and Israel. But their role in the protests is not that simple.  How did that fire get in students’ belly in the first place? Let’s look at the genesis of the social media posts spreading the idea to build encampments. And let’s look at who’s funding them. Indeed, the tents used at campus encampments are strikingly similar  coast to coast, right down to color and texture. Who coordinated the creation and shipment of these tents? Not the students who took over that Columbia building, and who asked the university to pay for their drinks and snacks. It’s unlikely an idea popped into a Columbia student’s head one day to publicly praise a terrorist organization that has called for the destruction of not only Israel, but the USA.  Did a student decide one day to cheer the continued captivity of hostages from 17 countries beyond ours, including Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, Thailand and Britain? All 18 countries made a fresh appeal to Hamas on April 26 to return their captive citizens. Hamas refuses. Is that a cause for celebration on an American campus? This is where a closer, fact-based review of the complicated history of the Middle East would be welcome. Education will trump hatred, or at least it should. Instead, college students are being indoctrinated through Tik Tok posts. As a college professor of 20+ years, I tell my students repeatedly that college is where they go to learn to think critically. Critically analyze messages coming at them. Recognize bias. Recognize spin.  Sadly, that’s not what’s happening on our campuses. (However, numbers will reveal that the media attention of the protests vastly overrepresents actual numbers on campus. Millions of students are dutifully cramming for exams and ordering their graduation gowns and tassels; we hear little about them.) Sadly, that’s not what’s happening on our campuses. (However, numbers will reveal that the media attention of the protests vastly overrepresents actual numbers on campus. Millions of students are dutifully cramming for exams and ordering their graduation gowns and tassels; we hear little about them.) So let’s back up. Why the loud outcry? The military action of the Israeli army, in response to an unprovoked massacre of 1,200 at a music festival on Oct. 7, provided a modern day “hook” for those who would be anxious to dust off an ancient hatred of Jews. While there are still living Holocaust victims, now in their 90s, this hatred dates back thousands of years, well before the rise of Adolf Hitler. The genesis of that hatred can be hotly debated. Few answers are clear. But even fewer people deny that is exists.  In Europe we are witnessing the slaughter of innocent Ukrainians every day at the hands of Vladimir Putin. Children are being removed from their homes and transplanted into Russian homes, in an attempt to wipe out a culture and eliminate a next generation of Ukrainians.    In Syria, the Assad regime has killed hundreds of thousands of innocents during the country’s civil war, using chemical attacks and bombs. In Xinjiang, China, forced slave labor of an estimated one million people continues in hundreds of concentration camps, in an effort to its Uyghur population.   Where are the groups chanting “Stop Putin’s Genocide?” How about “End chemical warfare in Syria?” or “Free the slaves?” Where are those college protest signs? Where are those brightly colored tents? You won’t see them. Because Israel’s fight to exist, and the innocents who have died as a result of the nation’s response to being attacked, has reopened a doorway to an ancient, global hatred of Jews. And now that hatred is being IV dripped into the minds of our college students through a well-financed campaign of tents, protest signs, Tik Tok challenges and sledge hammers.    As long as the ancient hatred of Jews lives on, there will never be world peace.   - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") --- ## URL: https://www.treleasecommunications.net/the-power-of-no-streamlining-communication-for-clarity-and-impact ### Title: The Power of “No”: Streamlining Communication for Clarity and Impact ### Page ID: 6075951 ### Content: ### Saying “No” to Extra Verbiage ### Avoiding Tangents in Verbal Conversations ### Steering Clear of Distractions ### Conclusion # Top 5 Tips to Build a Persuasive Argument At Work ### Simply enter your name and email below to receive instant access to the pdf file. Embrace the power of “no” and watch your communication skills soar. - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") 1. **Be Clear and Direct**: Avoid using complex words when simpler ones will do. For example, instead of saying “utilize,” say “use.” 2. **Eliminate Redundancies**: Phrases like “in my opinion, I think” can be shortened to “I think.” 3. **Use Active Voice**: Active voice makes your writing more dynamic and easier to read. For instance, “The committee approved the proposal” is more direct than “The proposal was approved by the committee.” 1. **Set Clear Objectives**: Before starting a conversation, know what you want to achieve. This will help you stay focused on the topic at hand. 2. **Listen Actively**: Pay attention to what the other person is saying and respond accordingly. This will help you avoid veering off-topic. 3. **Politely Redirect**: If the conversation starts to drift, gently steer it back to the main point. You can say something like, “That’s interesting, but let’s get back to our main topic.” 1. **Create a Distraction-Free Environment**: Find a quiet place to work and turn off notifications on your devices. 2. **Set Boundaries**: Allocate specific times for checking emails and social media, and stick to them. 3. **Prioritize Tasks**: Focus on the most important tasks first. This will help you maintain momentum and avoid getting sidetracked. --- ## URL: https://www.treleasecommunications.net/building-bridges-the-importance-of-community-outreach-in-the-grain-industry ### Title: Building Bridges: The Importance of Community Outreach in the Grain Industry ### Page ID: 7016169 ### Content: ### The Power of Data-Driven Decisions ### Embracing Environmental Stewardship ### Building Relationships Through Engagement ### The Challenges of Outreach ### A Sustainable Future # Top 5 Tips to Build a Persuasive Argument At Work ### Simply enter your name and email below to receive instant access to the pdf file. Building Bridges: The Importance of Community Outreach in the Grain Industry Imagine a small town where the grain industry thrives, but the connection between farmers and the community is weak. One day, a local farmer decides to host an open house at his grain silo. He invites families, schools, and local businesses to tour the facility, learn about sustainable practices, and enjoy some homemade snacks. As the sun sets, laughter fills the air, and relationships blossom. This story highlights a crucial aspect of the grain industry: community outreach. Community outreach is not just a nice-to-have; it’s essential for building trust and transparency. In recent years, consumers have become more interested in where their food comes from and how it’s produced. A survey found that 70% of consumers prefer brands that prioritize sustainability and community involvement. This growing demand for transparency is pushing the grain industry to adopt sustainable practices, making outreach even more critical. Data plays a vital role in effective community engagement. Understanding local needs, trends, and population dynamics can help businesses tailor their outreach efforts. For instance, using Nielsen data can provide insights into community preferences and concerns, allowing companies to create targeted messaging. This evidence-based approach not only enhances credibility but also strengthens the effectiveness of outreach initiatives. Moreover, the grain industry is not static; it evolves with changing market demands and environmental pressures. By staying informed through data, businesses can adapt their strategies and remain relevant in a competitive landscape. The call for sustainability is louder than ever. Environmental groups, policymakers, and consumers are urging the grain industry to adopt practices that protect the environment. This responsibility falls under the umbrella of environmental stewardship, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining air and water quality. Engaging with local communities about these initiatives not only builds goodwill but also fosters a sense of shared responsibility. For example, partnering with local food banks to promote sustainable farming practices can create a win-win situation. Not only does it help those in need, but it also raises awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture. Effective community outreach fosters strong relationships among stakeholders, from farmers to local businesses and schools. Engaging with the community helps break down barriers and build trust. This trust can translate into increased support for local initiatives and a stronger local economy. Furthermore, outreach efforts can attract new employees to the industry. Young people today seek work-life balance and meaningful engagement in their jobs. By actively participating in community events and showcasing the industry’s positive impact, businesses can enhance their public profile and appeal to a younger workforce. While the benefits of community outreach are clear, the path is not always smooth. Businesses may face challenges such as resource constraints, differing community needs, and the ever-changing landscape of the grain market . However, overcoming these obstacles is essential for long-term success. For example, utilizing digital platforms and social media can amplify outreach efforts and engage a broader audience. Collaborating with local influencers or podcasts can also help spread the message beyond traditional channels, ensuring that the outreach efforts resonate with diverse community members. As the grain industry continues to evolve, the importance of community outreach will only grow. By embracing transparency, leveraging data, and fostering relationships, businesses can position themselves as leaders in sustainability and community engagement. This proactive approach not only benefits individual companies but also strengthens the entire industry. Ultimately, community outreach is about more than just promoting a brand; it’s about connecting with people and building a better future for everyone involved. As we look ahead, let’s remember that every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impact and sow the seeds of trust and collaboration. - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Home](/ "Home") - [About](/about "About") - [Services](# "Services") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") - [Blog](/blog "Blog") - [Contact](/contact "Contact") - [Keynote Speaker](/keynote-speaker "Keynote Speaker") - [Workshops](/workshops "Workshops") - [Copywriter](/copywriter "Copywriter") --- ## URL: https://www.treleasecommunications.net/looking-to-advance-in-your-career-start-with-how-well-you-can-write ### Title: Looking to Advance In Your Career? Looking to Advance In Your Career? Start With How Well You Can Write. Communications Professor | Business Writing Trainer Poor writing doesn’t just soak up our time. It comes with real costs to our career success, in the form of lost credibility, broken contracts and stalled careers. In the grain industry, where precise language is key, strong writing skills aren’t just optional — they’re strategic. Yet writing is quickly becoming a lost art.  Even seasoned workers struggle to write professional emails, summaries, reports and proposals that they can feel proud of. And the skills gap - between what workers bring to jobs, and what employers need - grows wider by the day.  Let’s explore this more. And don’t worry - there’s good news to follow! Poor business writing can take many forms – such as unclear emails with unanswered requests. Vague reports. Confusing documents. But the costs go further than confusion. Poor writing can ruin a worker’s reputation; and with that, career growth and upward mobility.  As unfair as it may seem, here’s the reality: we equate poor or cloudy writing with incompetence. We don’t see a person as “on their game” when their writing is bad – even if they’re highly skilled in their field.  The result? Leadership loses confidence and opportunities are lost. And in high-stakes settings, a poorly worded incident report or contract summary can also invite legal liability.  So why don’t more workers seek skills training? For some, it’s a fear of being judged or looking unqualified for their jobs.  Because of that, training needs to be respectful, practical and non-threatening. The right training builds confidence, not anxiety. And it focuses on the skills that workers need every day on the job.  We also know that most workers don’t set out to be unclear when they write. In many cases, they’re just overwhelmed. It’s also a safe bet that some – if not most – haven’t been taught to specifically write for the workplace. Add to that a digital environment that encourages speed over substance, technical jargon, AI short-cuts, cross-generational barriers, and constant multitasking. Writing becomes a chore and a “to-do item” that many workers dread.    As both a college professor and recruiter for many years, I see that widening gap between employer needs and applicant writing skills every day.  And I hear it time and time again from employers - “We need people who can write.” That’s because a strong writer doesn’t just fill out forms or send emails. They’re asked to lead meetings, make document decisions, and represent the company professionally. In many industries where recruitment is a growing challenge, investing in the communication skills of existing staff is a wise strategy move. It enables career growth and promotability so workers can accomplish more. There’s an added bonus:  strong writers are perceived as strategic thinkers and “leadership ready” – both directly linked to higher salaries and more frequent promotions. I promised you good news earlier on, and here it is. Writing can be taught. And it doesn’t require a return to night classes at your local college. Or buying heavy, expensive textbooks. Online training that’s designed for working professionals can be cost-effective, flexible, and respectful of people’s time. The *Write Right Method*, an online 12-module course, focuses on real-world writing: emails, reports, proposals, and meeting notes. It’s built for people who already know their industry, or are actively learning it, but wish to express their knowledge more clearly in writing.  Ironically, the tools that were supposed to make writing easier have made it messier. With the influx of AI, texts, chats, and emails fly fast and furious, often without context or clarity.  Increasingly, people use AI tools like Copilot and ChatGPT to write for them. That’s a mistake. AI is just a tool. It can’t replace an employees’ judgment, knowledge or expertise.  And it shouldn’t.  Studies show that even AI makes mistakes; in fact, quite often. Without a baseline of industry knowledge to guide you, content mistakes can get forwarded and then take on a life of their own.  Subtleties also can get lost. AI can’t know what your customer meant by “urgent,” or why a certain phrase or term might trigger confusion in a safety memo. Clear business writing still requires a human brain.  Now don’t get me wrong; AI can be a powerful ally when used wisely. It can draft outlines, rephrase awkward sentences, and suggest tone adjustments. But it’s only as good as the person guiding it.     The goal isn’t to outsource our writing; it’s to enhance it.  AI may fine-tune your writing – but it shouldn’t be the author. I cover that extensively in the *Write Right Method* course.   If you wish to lead in your industry, you need to write like a leader. That means being clear, concise, and persuasive. It means knowing when to tell a story, when to get to the point, and when to ask the right question. In global industry, where operations may span continents and decisions affect millions of dollars, your clearly written documents tell others you’re ready to take on responsibility and manage complexity with confidence. In 2024 I spoke at a national industry conference where I learned that many industries face a talent crunch. Recruiting new professionals is difficult, as is retaining them once they’re on board. That’s why investing in writing training isn’t just about “soft skills” — it’s about strengthening your workforce from the inside out. Online training makes this possible. It’s accessible, adaptable, and designed for real-world application. And when employees feel confident in how they communicate, they show up differently — with more clarity, more initiative, and more impact. For those who want to peek into the *Write Right Method*, I’m posting a link to a free module from the course, complete with access to an instant “literacy scorecard” to assess your writing baseline.
